This is my follow up post about Serian Scout Run 2017 : Read Here
On 8th July 2017, about 1000 people took part in the Serian Scout Run 1.0 held at Serian Mini Stadium here last Saturday. The turnout was beyond expectation because initially the organiser expected only 600 participants since it was the first big run event held in the town here.
Organised by Serian Scout Council, was divided into two categories - 3KM [mostly taken by school children and teachers] and 5KM [were mostly working adults]. Chairman of the Serian Scout Council, Yunus Apok of the Serian Education Department office said the run was the first in Serian and attracted people from other divisions to visit Serian, aside from raising funds for the Scouts.
Bukit Semuja Assemblyman, John Ak Ilus flagged off the 5KM run, followed by 3KM run 15 minutes later at around 6.50am. Prior the flag-off, an invited instructor warmed up runners during a brief zumba session.
Apart of receiving personal donations from individuals, this event was also sponsored by Ayam Brand, F&N [100 Plus], International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak, Century Hotel Kuching, Tarat Sentral, Penyangkai, Airish Tyre, Benzamine Book Centre, Koran Trading, Mas Ranti Sebangkoi Sdn Bhd, AVS Serian, Desire Fitness Studio, Bodylicious fitness Studio, Sri Jati and Serian Avon Boutique.
Serian Scout Run 1.0 also supported by Run rev Co, Serian District Education Department Office, Serian District Council, sarawak Bloggers Society and Malaysia Information Department.
Kudos everybody...!
The money raised from the event would be used to help the Scouts in Serian run their activitis. Serian Scouts have been actively involved in state and national level programmes. Last year, a team of 8 scouts from SMK Taee went to Terengganu to participate in Asian Jamboree and two scots from SMK Tebedu are now on their way to take up the King Scouts test from Sarawak Scout Academy.
Good luck from us at NTGravity Zone!
