Miri Finale... For Now

Hollaaa....

After a full day at +Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri on the 7th February, Today [8 February 2015] it's a very laid-back activities for us [Garner, Khairool, Mijie and I] before we ride back to Kuching later tonight...

We start off with breakfast at Coco House's Cafe.

A nice looking American Breakfast with hot coffee...

Before we check out from this lodge... the three of us go up to the rooftop and it's amazing view although very limited from here... Read about it [HERE]

Once Mijie arrived to pick us, it's time to say Good Bye to Coco House... first location, Grand Old Lady...

Miri town from on top of this hill...

Candid shot of Mijie, Khairool and Garner...

Right next to the Petroleum Museum, there is currently a Bistro known as Hazard, which offers food and beverages overlooking the night time cityscape.

...but we gonna pass it for another time...

The Grand Old Lady...

The Grand Old Lady is not a literal old lady. It is Miri's first drilled oil well which took place in the year of 1910 by Shell Company. The Grand Old Lady is one of Miri's many main places of interest and also act as an important monument in the eyes of the local's and definitely, the world's. This famous landmark has a height of 30 meters and marked the beginning of modernization of Miri city as back in the years before the discovery of The Grand Old Lady, Miri is just an undeveloped fishing village.
There is a museum named the Petroleum Museum situated just next to The Grand Old Lady. If you're looking for an educational tour, the Grand Old Lady and the Petroleum Museum will be the best place. On the hill, you will see a model named the Nodding Donkey that is used to erect the crude oil. There is also a site of Time Capsule. There are many exhibits and modals in the museum include a scaled oil platform, tools used back in the days to extract crude oil and definitely, the products made. History and the processes involve the extraction of crude oil to the process and end products are all written down and elaborated.
Accommodation and shopping in Miri is not much difference than the others in Sarawak. There are a wide range of hotels and shopping malls offered by Miri. Popular hotels like Mega Hotel, Park City Everly Hotel and Imperial Hotel are always packed with guests due to their strategic position. Famous shopping malls include Bintang Mall, Merdeka Mall and Boulevard Mall. The best place to purchase souvenirs in Miri is the Heritage Centre where you have the chance to see the process of crafting. Prices offered there are reasonable and affordable. Of course, you can bargain with the friendly buyers to get a better price.
There are no bus services available to reach this destination. So, you can get to The Grand Old Lady (Miri Well) either by foot or by a taxi ride using the street named Jalan Setia Raja. After SJK North, drive along the road and you will spot it on the right hand side of Jalan Miri - Pujut.

It's a nice place to get to know more about Petroleum [Apart from the search in Google], It's interactive and a place to visit at all ages.

Too bad it's not well maintain... some of the interactive 'games' can not be used anymore.

Mine is Cheesy Me [Grilled Chicken, cranberry sauce, cheese, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato and lime mayo] with add on - cheezy fries. For my drink - i picked soft drink moctails, Themes Water [ Orange juice and coke]

After we all done with our good food [and the end of The Devil Wears Prada movie] - we all make our move to Boulevard for some sight-seeing...

Lion dance...

and relax for a bit at Old Town White Coffee in the same building... before we go back to Mijie's crib to freshen up for our dinner later around 8pm...

Our dinner theme is the famous Nasi lelapan at Restoran Muara... due to i can't handle spicy food, i just ordered buttered chicken with rice.. Sorry no photo, since i thought it's nothing special...

Khairool's Nasi Lelapan Empal... it's smoked beef with raw vege and sambal belacan [shrimp paste sambal]

Our bus back to Kuching will be at 10pm... for this ride back we book the standard coach.. the seat is slightly narrow and you can't bring your luggage with you [ need to leave it at luggage compartment below]

I'm lucky for having my single seat and it's quite spacious so i could keep my backpack with me...
