Shopee Carnival and East Malaysia Entrepreneurs Challenge

Shopee, the largest e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan has organized a Shopee's Carnival Day Out event in Kuching, Sarawak for the first time.

The event is organized to celebrate Shopeeholics in Sarawak who have always supported Shopee Malaysia since its launch in December 2015. At the event which was also organized in conjunction with the Borneo International Kite Festival 2017, Shopee also wanted to share the latest information and promising campaign Lowest Price Sale for more than 20 product categories to Shopee users.

During the event, more than 60 lucky Shopeeholics from Sabah and Sarawak were invited to enjoy Shopee’s first ever carnival organized in East Malaysia.

Various carnival fun activites for Shopeeholics to try and to get points and redeem it on the spot!

They have also announced the winners of the Sabah and Sarawak Entrepreneurs Challenge who will receive various attractive prizes including RM3,000 cash! The winners were announced at the Shopee’s Day Out Carnival which took place at Mango Tree Bistro, Kuching. 

For the East Malaysia Entrepreneurs Challenge, sellers were selected from over 60 participants who attended Shopee University, a series of in-depth tutorial modules crafted by Shopee to aid local entrepreneurs and businesses in setting up their online businesses. 

This free entrepreneurial workshop series has been organized in 10 states across Malaysia, training more than 4,000 sellers to date. The judging criteria was based on several variables which included total sales, buyers rating as well as chat response rate on the Shopee App.
East Malaysia Entrepreneurs Challenge Fun Facts

πŸ™Œ  A total of 16 sellers from Sarawak and 14 sellers from Sabah were shortlisted to participate in the Challenge 
πŸ™Œ  The youngest seller is 19 years old selling mobile top-ups 
πŸ™Œ  The oldest seller is 50 years old, selling baby products.
πŸ™Œ  Health & Beauty, Fashion & Accessories and Home & Living were the top categories participating during the challenge
πŸ™Œ  Each seller was required to upload more than 10 items on their online shop. 

πŸ™Œ  Sellers were only allowed to sell authentic products during the challenge. Any seller caught selling fake, OEM, duplicated and imitation items would be disqualified. 




Grand Prize winner of Shopee’s first ever East Malaysia Entrepreneurs Challenge which was held from 25 to 30 September 2017 goes to Janet Wong Yew Yiin [Shopee ID: Rejoice 123]. The seller whose online shop specializes in Home & Living category bagged an RM3,000 cash prize. 

Runner up goes to Nur Farhidda Asmadi [Shopee ID: Nurfa247] with an RM1,500 cash prize while Judy Hii Lu King[Shopee ID: Little Hut] placed 3rd with an RM500 cash prize.
