Oº°‘¨ 12th October 2014 ¨‘°ºO

Good morning... welcome back...

I'm leaving Alor Setar today... back to reality... I woke up early, I want to see the sunrise in Alor Setar. Having my 'parting-ritual' which is walking around the block and then back to my room. Very refreshing...

Getting ready to check out!

¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪ I'm leaving on a jet plane... dont know when i'll be back again... ♪♫•*¨*•.¸¸

Well... as usual... before left my room...

I have two missions today... To give Marina Mahathir my gift from Sarawak and hope she likes it!

My humble gift for Marina Mahathir... A Sarawak signature layered cake - Evergreen and an in-trend Rainbow cake...
Lucky in my room, there is a small fridge - i get to keep this gift until our final day...

Breakfast... as usual i love trying food, so this is just the beginning...

First round... hahahahah....

Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir joined me shortly afterwards... Great! I can discreetly gave it [my gift] to her. Remember about my mission when we at Tun Mahathir’s childhood house?

Here goes...

Autographed flyer by Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir...! Yayy!

Before we left the hotel to airport... Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir gave us a calendar of Paddy Museum, there is a picture of the four of us in it and a sweet personalised notes inside...

Here goes... the finale... going to the airport... It's a working day here in Kedah and traffic jammed will occured soon!

Our last photo together...

Our flight back to KLIA is 8ish am and by the time we reached airport - it's time to check in and on board our designated plane...

Marina Mahathir, Juvita [from Maxis] and Yap Chin Kuan [from Red Archer] will fly back via Firefly as it will be landing in Subang while the three of us will depart via MAS to KLIA. The rest of entourage will travel back to Kuala Lumpur by road soon after drop us at the airport.

Turn right to exit...

Oh yeah, it's raining heavily... just like my heart...

Until next time Alor Setar!

Last scene of Kedah...

Captured this beautiful clouds [Asus Zenfone 5]

An hour later... Reach KLIA... Khaleed and Wee Han Chiang will stay back and hang out at KLIA while I need to go to KLIA2 to see my wonderful soulja +Riner Mike. He is on work + vacation and we both fly back home today...

Its kinda cool to meet a person you always see back home at a new place. If you get what I mean... I thought I want to hang out with him having a good cup of coffee before his departure. Please dont ask me why...

Fact : Wonderful Soulja is not referring him as my boyfriend... #ewww We are bunch of crazy people which we call friends and we named our group "Wonderful Souljas" just for fun...

Our cover photo for our Facebook group... photoshopped by yours truly...!

Once i've reached KLIA2... checked in my now 12kg luggage and completed my final mission for this trip.. which is Gardenia breads! It's hardly to find here in Kuching so it's kinda habit for us to buy some [or a lot!] of any Gardenia's product.

Once it settled... rushed to send off my good friend... Thought i missed him!

Coffee session at Starbucks...  oh well, we have our coffee session later laa... hahaha...

That's the one...

Once my bestie has entered his plane... I'm making my way down further to the waiting hall... waiting for my flight...

sorry... i just got to...

My backpack is full with Gardenia's breads...!!

Going back soon...

I just thought of something! I forgot to grab Subways sandwiches or Whopper from Burger King!!

Aiyaaa... I've craving for both since 2010 [for Subways] and 2013 [for BK]! #facepalm

...

.....

.......

Anyway.... the plane has take off... travel back to Kuching.. my home town!

Syyyhhhh... Khaleed is sleeping...

Captured by my Asus Zenfone 5 smartphone! You like it?

Reading time....

Kudos +AirAsia for listing Sarawak Cat Museum in their column as one of 'Weirdly Wonderful' museums...

While it’s every passenger’s right to lean back... please be considerate to passenger behind you... No need to ask permission to but at least glance back while you adjust your seat. Please... #SendatTau

My lunch... Nasi Briani Bukhara...

It's yummy... a bit spicy for me...

One hour and 45 minutes later...,

Kuching, Meowmy is back~❤!!

Ohhh... i miss my fur babies and my handsome nephew... Glad to be back...

Greeted by this newspaper billboard... very creative!

I would love to send my Gratitude to :

Hello...

Do you ever heard of Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA)?

This group of dedicated volunteers and members actively organised awareness – raising events, rescued and re-homed stray animals and neutering scheme

They also play an important role in reaching an agreement with local councils in Kuching to house and care for stray animals picked up by the councils. It was a deal that was done with to this day, and remains the only such arrangement between animal welfare organizations and local councils in Malaysia.

In 1999, through the generosity of the state government, SSPCA covered 0.6 acre piece of land in 6 1/2 miles Penrissen Road, Kuching on which to build a shelter animal.

In those years, this small piece of land has served as a refuge, a sanctuary for of strays, abused and abandoned animals. Some have been lucky enough to be given a second chance to live, others live out their days in the loving care of the staff where we lived, and many have crossed the 'Rainbow Bridge'.

"At the moment Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) is taking care of more than 200 animals, mostly stray and abused, at its Shelter and the society needed about RM20,000 every month for the shelter upkeep and also to provide medical care for the animals. Besides caring for the animals, SSPCA is also working at looking for a new home for them. All the animals will be given proper care and treatment before being put on the adaption program."

The shelter is now getting overcrowded with the increasing number of animals there and the growing development surrounding the area. Hence, SSPCA is looking at building an integrated purpose-build Animal Village. The intention had already voiced to the relevant authorities for further support. The Animal Village is estimated to cost RM1.5million to build and SSPCA hopes to raise as much from all its fund raising activities to achieve this dream.

Three years ago, members of the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) got together to find ways to raise more money to fund its increasing activities.

Many suggestions and ideas were thrown on the table for their consideration. After much discussion, it was agreed that a music festival would be a good way to source for fund. Although it is not a conventional fund-raising activity but the committee members felt it could reach out to the masses. It was decided that the music festival would be called World Animal Groove (WAG) and would be held in October, to coincide with the World Animal Day celebration.

Three years later, WAG music festival has grown bigger and better and had attracted a wide section of the society, all doing their parts towards helping SSPCA to reduce the number of stray, abandoned and abused animals.

Seeing the potential of this music festival in attracting visitors to city, the Ministry of Tourism had also “adopted” the event as one of the major events in the State’s Calendar of Event starting this year.

Showcasing music of various genre, the music festival had featured world music, classical Indian music, jazz, pop, contemporary, salsa and many more since the first festival held in 2012.  The performers were both local and foreigners. And this year is no different and the WAG music festival will be held on October 25 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

This year’s line-up include local band Maya, Hydra Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur, Mel and Joe (Singapore) and Jim and the Saucey Soul Band (USA/Indonesia). Malaysian comedian Bibi Kpoh is also making an appearance at the music festival, coming back for the third year due to the popular request from the festival goers.

A great supporter of SSPCA, Bibi has never fails to tickle the funny bones of the festival goers with her jokes and antic. The crowd also loves her and would not shy away when she approached them during her show.

Like Maya, Hydra Malaysia also has a good following among the locals after having performed several times in the city. Both Maya and Hydra Malaysia are both good cover bands, playing all kind of tunes and they are expected to rock the stage with their energetic performances.

Fans of country music will be in for a treat with Mel and Joe. The two brothers are expected to get the crowd to sing along with them to popular country tunes.

Jim and the Saucey Soul Band, as the name suggested, will woo the crowd with their soul, R&B and jazz tunes. The leader of the band, Jim Larkin is originally from USA and had been in show biz for about 50 years. His band members are equally talented and together they will create good soulful music to get the crowd grooving to their tempo.

Tickets to the festival is priced at RM60 for adult and RM30 for child (3-12 years old) and is available online at www.ticketxpress.com.my and at UCSI Communications office (tel: 082 368109). At the moment tickets are offered at the early bird rate and are priced at RM48 for adult and RM20 for children. The early bird rate ends on July 31.

Apart from the WAG Music Festival, other events organized by SSPCA to raise fund include the Animazing Race which will be held on September 28 and the Charity Gala Dinner on October 24.

This year’s music festival is supported by BCCK, Amansar Travel and Tours, B.N.B Tech, 360 Hotel and Urban Resort, Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suite, City Public Link Bus Service Sdn Bhd and Lee Ming Press Sdn Bhd.

See you there ok? Save the date now!!

NTGravity : Always wanted to join or help charity... especially animals and women... but dont know how....
Haiitt~!!!

so... we have our lunch at Sri Pumpong... this place was recommended by Dato Seri Mukhriz Mahathir when we visited him and his wife a day before...

It's nasi campur [rice with anything you desire...] - you can have it all in one plate or you can tell your waiter or waitress which food you want to be served separately...

The one that rare item to me is the smoked beef... yummy...

This will come with the smoked beef... careful if you can't handle the level of spiciness! It burns...!

Khaleed showing off his plate... hahaha

This is mine... i'm playing safe... non spicy food...

It's a popular place so please drop by to try their food... and you have to wait if the place jammed packed during peak hours...

Once we had all eaten our lunch... We all make our move to Jalan Menteri as Marina wanted to show their former homes.

Sadly... we all were greeted by this empty lot.... (TT_TT)

Marina in sad voice told us the house might look like the photo below...

Although everybody seems to be disappointed we all change our route to Titi Gajah, Alor Setar, Kedah - we gonna visit 'Pondok Maharizan'.. the house that Tun Mahathir built for his family.

Marina told us, this house is where she spend her time with her siblings - and that house is always full with visitors. Marina will help her mother [Tun Siti Hasmah] preparing some local kuih or served drinks to her father's guests. The funny part - although her father was defeated in elections - that house never quiet!

Too bad... nobody was around to open the locked gate... *bummer*

...there goes river scene... [ Marina told us behind their backyard there is a major river called Sungai Kedah ]

The pouring rain seems to understand our hearts right that instant... nothing much to do so we all head back to our hotel to freshen up...

I need to packed these in my luggage carefully... but first... hahaha

Around 4.30pm... to Alor Setar Tower!! It is the second tallest tower in Malaysia and the 19th tallest in the world..! Wow..

I'm here...!

Observation area on the 88 Meter Level will enable visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of Alor Star. In this area, there are 5 sets of automatic binoculars, souvenirs cum money changer and ice cream shop.

A visitor can use binoculars to enjoy a breathtaking view that stretches from Gunung Jerai (Kedah Peak) to Gunung Keriang and the vast stretch of paddy fields that lies in between the two mountains.

New development! Cool...

Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid

One of the Malaysia's oldest and premier school located in Alor Setar, Kedah. Originally founded as Government English School (GES), it is one of the earliest English-medium schools to be established in the country. In 2008, the school celebrated its hundredth year (1908-2008) of existence and establishment.

Marina went to school here for here Form 6... Yeah... it is an all-boys school except for lower and upper 6s.

Guess who is the first headmaster of the first English school in the state of Kedah in late in 1908?

Marina's grandfather...

which is...

...Tun Mahathir's father.

Mohamad bin Iskandar a.k.a. Tok Mat!

I was like... "Whoa!"

[Read about this prestigious college... HERE]

Feels like in Germany for a second there... [referring the college's flag]

Prominent Alumni and Sportsmen [Just to name a few]:

☞ Tuanku Sultan Abdul Halim [Sultan of Kedah and current Supreme Ruler of Malaysia]

☞ Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj [First Malaysian Prime Minister]
☞ Tun Mahathir Mohamad [Fourth Malaysian Prime Minister]
☞ Tun Daim Zainudin [Former Minister of Finance]
☞ Tan Sri Mohamed Khir Johari [Former Education Minister]
☞ Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli  [Former National, Kedah and Sarawak Football Player]

Impromptu meeting with some very friendly students...

Khaleed is lucky because he was given KSAH's badge college... Wow..

Three of them are very very kind-hearted as they willing to show us the new entrance to the primary school, behind this college.

This primary school should be named after her grandfather - the authorities thought her grandfather's name is Mohamad Iskandar, whereas in fact the real name is Mohamad BIN Iskandar.

It's ok la kan... The thoughts that count!

Marina didn't go to this school... she just want to show us the school named after her grandfather...

The original building...
one for the road...

Group photo...

Our next destination...

Coffee break at Caffè Diem !![or Tea break for Marina Mahathir]

Location : 6, Jalan Penjara Lama, Pekan Cina, 05000 Alor Setar

Uhhh.... sarcasm?

Lovely caffe latte...

among which are served on that day

In case if you have any doubt about 'poppy seed' - this is the reply from Caffe Diem.

The owner's mother and also responsible for these delicious cakes that we eat earlier.

Interior...

Kitchen area... very creative!

This menu is called "Encik Hu Chew Chai" a.k.a. deep fried fish finger! #LOL

Meeting with the owner, Jackie Loo

Meanwhile... i'm having a selfie with Sarawak FA rival... Kedah FA's coach - Dave Mitchell.

Super excited face? yeah, sorry... I put the blame on my coffee... 😙💨🎶

Our last stop for this trip... the famous and legendary MEE ABU. This place is famous and always visited by local celebrities and politicians. There are many MEE ABU [shops or stalls] in Alor Setar - better asked the local [the location] if you want to try it.

I was wondering what so special about this shop.. I've learned from the housekeeping staff [from the hotel that I stayed] that they are using charcoal stove to cook. I'm not sure if all their dishes using this method.

Popular dishes - Mee Goreng, Mee Rebus and Murtabak.

Please correct me if i'm wrong!

Mee Rebus
Yellow noddles with thick gravy. It's too spicy to me, i cant finish it...

Murtabak [pan-fried bread stuffed with minced beef or chicken]

Different from my usual murtabak back in Kuching. This one is super jammed packed with minced beef, onions and egg. It's my first time too, my murtabak is served with red onions pickled. Ever!

Trivia : Mutabak [spelling may vary] in Arabic means "folded"

Which is true...

The dough is flattened [they have a technique to do it without causing it to tear off], all the ingredients are placed in the middle of the dough and then the dough is folded so that no leakage occurs. After the dough is fried on a flat pan.

Not sure if this dadih that looks like soy bean curd but this is made from buffalo milk [which is still popular but due to the population of buffalo in Kedah are decreasing, mostly the maker changed it to cow milk]

Although i'm always adventurous to try new food [as long its halal] but i'm kind of sceptical when come to buffalo milk... when i saw Datin Paduka Marina savouring it - i also want too lah!! #brokengilerenglish LOL..

Its so creamy and yummy!

Marina with our handsome-and-long-haired video production boys...

The finale...

Another 'interview' session...

I truly look so stiffed! Dayummm

Once mine is done... I've changed and walking around the block - need some hot drink to go...

Two old cinemas...

Start packing my stuff... spend my last night slow and easy...

The wristband, drinking water and badge from Alor Setar Tower are given from Marina Mahathir.

Actually she's the one who getting this gift but she kind-heartedly gave the three of us some too! Thank you!
