AZAM Post-Gawai Showcase in the City

Hello... First of all, I would like to apologies for the delayed in this entry.

I would love to extend my gratitude to Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM) for the invitation and Sarawak Bloggers for the opportunity.

Organised by Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM) in collaboration with Kuching Young Souls, supported by Faradale Media - M on the 6th July 2012 at New Wing, Boulevard Shopping Mall, Kuching there's an event called Post - Gawai: Showcase in the City with the given theme, "Our Diverse Cultures, our Shared Pride".

With the recent conclusion of the Gawai celebration in June, this event seeks to bring the culturally rich traditions of the Dayak communities to the city population. This festive atmosphere is felt mainly in the rural areas where members of the Iban and Bidayuh communities typically converge on their traditional longhouses and villages. Their hopes to share this activity of the Dayak culture with the urban communities in a more participatory manner.

The event also will be acted as one of the platforms for the urban local youths to demonstrate their appreciation of their cultural heritage and to contribute to promoting the preservation of such heritage.

Visitors will have the opportunity to try their skills at traditional games and will be welcomed with welcome drinks in the traditional manner of the longhouse.

The programme of that evening starts off with the arrival of guests and welcoming drinks - guests are welcome to sit at the rattan mats to get the same feel when 'Ngabang' (visiting) their homes or longhouses during Gawai celebration. Some familiar snack that usually can be found during the celebration also served at the rattan mat.

Enjoice!!
